Imitation leather (mistakenly called eco-leather) is a completely synthetic product, has no component of animal origin and is not ecological.
It is made by coating a polyurethane resinous material on a cotton or synthetic canvas.
Then it is pressed and the roughness of the leather are engarved in order to reproduce as faithfully as possible a copy of the real leather.
Imitation leather is a material that does not absorb liquids and is easy to clean, it is very similar visually to the leather, but it does not have the touch and naturalness that only genuine leather can have and it is not breathable.
However, good products are made, and are less expensive than those in leather.
It is used a lot in public places, or by those who have children at home and want a practical and easy to clean coating, or by those who want to save money in the purchase still having a product that looks good.
